Four codes share the Dallas overlay
The Public Utility Commission of Texas added 945 to the 214/469/972 region in January 2021. Its notice includes Dallas and surrounding communities such as Allen, Frisco, Grand Prairie and Rockwall. An overlay changes the available number supply without changing existing numbers.
Describe the territory your team actually covers
Dallas businesses can serve one neighborhood, several suburbs or a wider regional market. Write down where you take appointments or dispatch staff before choosing a code. A Dallas-associated number alone does not tell customers whether you serve their address.
Use one number or separate office numbers deliberately
For multiple offices, decide whether callers should reach central reception or a specific team. If you choose separate numbers, use consistent naming on the website and confirm where each call lands. Your phone provider supplies the routing and shared-line features.
Test on the materials you already use
A home-services business can test a candidate on a van door and estimate. A professional office can test a referral card and spoken introduction. Compare the complete ten digits across 214, 469, 972 and 945 instead of choosing the area code before checking the rest of the number.
Check price and transfer details before launch
Review current listing prices and the 214 market report’s aggregate asking-price distribution. Confirm portability with the receiving carrier. Once the carrier completes the port, test calls and voicemail before updating signs, invoices or business profiles.
