The receiving provider starts the transfer

After purchase, give the supplied transfer information to the carrier or VoIP provider that will host the number. That provider submits the transfer request and communicates its required format.

A transfer PIN protects the number

A port-out or transfer PIN is a credential used to authorize movement of a number. Treat it as sensitive order information and provide it only to the receiving provider handling the transfer.

An LOA documents authorization

Some providers request a letter of authorization confirming that the customer approves the transfer. Names, service information, and signatures should match the supporting order information supplied to the provider.

Accuracy prevents delays

Do not guess at account details or repeatedly submit conflicting information. If the receiving provider reports a rejection, compare its rejection reason with the supplied transfer instructions before resubmitting.

Authorize only the intended transfer

A PIN or signed authorization should be shared only for the number and receiving provider named in the request. Contact support promptly if credentials were exposed or a transfer request was cancelled.

Transfer checklist

Have the exact ten-digit number and the supplied account number, transfer PIN, account name and service address ready. Copy them exactly into your receiving carrier’s request.

Keep the order confirmation and transfer instructions together. If the carrier reports a rejection, use its specific reason to correct the request before submitting again.

Once the carrier confirms completion, test incoming and outgoing calls and any messaging features included in your carrier plan before publishing the number.
